SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO INCREASE TABLE SPONSORSHIP LEVEL FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL CHILDREN’S BENEFIT DINNER
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council will consider approving an increase to the table sponsorship for the 3rd Annual Children’s Community Family Guidance Center Benefit Dinner taking place on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Sheraton Hotel, Cerritos. The support from this dinner will help the CFGC with its mission to address the critical mental health needs of the community.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Approve an increase in the City’s Table sponsorship level for the 3rd Annual Children’s Benefit Dinner on May 2, 2024 to the Gold Level and accompanying expense of $5,000.
BACKGROUND
The Community Family Guidance Center provides a place where families from Southwest Los Angeles County affected by trauma, abuse, and mental health issues can heal and restore their lives. Their services include individual and family therapy, medication support, and community linkage.
ANALYSIS
The City of Downey received a request from the Community Family Guidance Center regarding a table sponsorship for the 3rd Annual Children’s Benefit Dinner, which will occur on May 2, 2024. The City has traditionally provided a table sponsorship for the annual event. At the February 27, 2024 City Council meeting, the City Council approved a table sponsorship at the Silver Level at $1,100.

At the March 12, 2024 City Council meeting, staff was asked to return with a report to increase the table sponsorship to the Gold Level at a cost of $5,000.

FISCAL IMPACT
Approval of the recommended action will result in an expenditure of $5,000 from the General Fund – City Council Department, Account No. 10-4-1110-0140 for the table sponsorship. There is sufficient fund balance for the recommended actions.
