Trash for city of Downey.

Good evening,
The city has a contract with Athens trash as you know. Are HOA set a budget for trash and it has gone up month after month. We budgeted for 1,354 a month and this pass bill was for 2,3551 As a small community of homes this was shocking. Talking to the apartments and the other HOA near by they also were charged more with NO WARNING. We all called and got the run around and then was told fees have just gone up. We just hope this is read and the community and city know who they are doing business with and how this is impacting us in a negative way.

Thank you.

Public Comment for 3/26
My name is Michelle Farina and I’m a lifelong resident of Downey.

The purpose of my comment today is to urge Downey City Council to propose and pass a resolution calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Please add this item to the next city council agenda as this is urgent and there is no more time to be wasted. Innocent people are dying every single hour from unimaginable violence, forced starvation and from treatable diseases.

I’m not alone in finding it unacceptable that our U.S. tax dollars are used to fund Israel’s war against the Palestinian people. The decades of impunity and complete disregard for human life is evident and must be stopped.

Calling for a ceasefire is the absolute bare minimum our community must take. We can demonstrate our shared belief that no human should be deprived of food, water, electricity, and medical aid.

All people, no matter race, gender, or religion are deserving of the same basic protections and human rights.

Please, call for a permanent ceasefire.

Thank you,
Michelle Farina

Patrol checks of Furman Park
Can you guys discuss patrol checks or Furman Park, especially the west wide by the baseball fields. Yesterday, March 25th they had a male homeless masturbating in the bushes. Luckily some parents scared him off by the time Downey Police arrived 30 minutes later.

Speed Limit Signs
Can we have some Speed limit signs with the radar and flashing lights installed on the northern portion of Old River School Road between Firestone and Florence? People traverse ORSR at freeway speeds, especially in front of the golf CO U rse
Thank you
