EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The City Council will consider approving specifications and authorizing the solicitation of bids for Well No. 9 Rehabilitation, Capital Improvement Program (CIP) No. 23-30. The proposed well rehabilitation improvements, which would occur at the well site in the northerly part of the City, are necessary to restore well efficiency to ensure the City can rely on this well to help meet water supply demands.

RECOMMENDATION

That the City Council:

1. Approve specifications and authorize solicitation of bids for Well No. 9 Rehabilitation, CIP No. 23-30; and

2. Find that the project is categorically exempt from the requirements contained in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under Existing Facilities, Section 15301(d).

BACKGROUND

Each year, a number of the City’s groundwater wells are rehabilitated to replace worn-out parts and materials and restore efficiency and water production as part of the annual groundwater well maintenance and rehabilitation program. Well No. 9, located in the northern part of the City, is one such well that needs rehabilitation to restore pump and motor efficiencies to ensure that the City is able to continue to use this well as a reliable water source.
