FUNDRAISER
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
That the City Council ratify the expenditure related to the donation of a voucher for a foursome to play golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course to the Soroptimist International of Downey for their Denim and Diamonds Fundraiser, which was held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at The ARC-Reagan Banquet Hall in Downey, California. The voucher was auctioned off as a fundraiser for the organization.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Ratify the expenditure related to the donation of a foursome of golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course to the Soroptimist International of Downey for their Denim and Diamonds Fundraiser, which was held on Friday, April 12, 2024.
BACKGROUND
Soroptimist International of Downey is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve and enrich the lives of woman and children locally and globally through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities. This fundraiser will help raise money for their ongoing scholarship program for high school graduates in pursuing an education in the arts, vocational, and special education.
ANALYSIS
The City of Downey received a request from the Soroptimist International of Downey for their event on April 12th regarding a donation of a foursome of golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course in support of their Denim and Diamond Fundraiser. This request was approved by the City Manager due to the timing of the request. The Council is asked to ratify the donation of a foursome of golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course.

Approval of the recommended action will result in the estimated revenue decrease in the amount of $275 from the Parks and Recreation Department Account No. 52-3-6610.
