SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH RMI INTERNATIONAL INC. FOR CITY-WIDE PROFESSIONAL SECURITY GUARD
SERVICES
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council will consider approving a Professional Services Agreement with RMI International Inc. for City-wide Professional Security Guard Services. In February 2024, City staff solicited proposals from qualified security services firms to provide City-wide professional security guard services via the issuance of a Request for Proposals; in response, staff received 24 proposals from professional security guard firms. Upon completion of the solicitation, and review of the submitted proposals, staff recommends entering into a Professional Services Agreement with RMI International Inc. for a two (2) year term beginning on July 1, 2024 with the two optional extended terms of one year, for a total contract amount of $390,000 each fiscal year.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Approve the Professional Services Agreement with RMI International Inc. for City- wide Professional Security Guard Services beginning on July 1, 2024, in the amount not to exceed $390,000 for Fiscal Year 2024-2025.
BACKGROUND
Since 2011, the City has provided security services to the Downtown Downey area, including the City-owned parking structure, and at various Parks and Recreation Department locations, and special events throughout the fiscal year.
The current security services contract is held by Servexo Protective Services, who has provided services since 2021, with a current term end date of June 30, 2024. Servexo began their tenure providing the services of one (1) guard per scheduled hour, at each location, both in the Downtown Downey and Park and Recreation locations. Currently, all Parks and Recreation locations continue to be serviced with one (1) guard per scheduled hour at all Parks and Recreation locations, while the Downtown Downey area patrol hours, route, and staffing levels, currently two (2) security guards per scheduled hour
