EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
That the City Council ratify the expenditure related to the donation of a voucher for a foursome to play golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course to the 10-20 Club of Downey for their 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament Fundraiser, which was held on Monday, May 20, 2024 at the Rio Hondo Golf Club in Downey, CA. The voucher was auctioned off as a fundraiser for the organization.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Ratify the expenditure related to the donation of a voucher for a foursome of golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course in support of the 10-20 Club of Downey for their 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament Fundraiser which was held on Monday, May 20, 2024
BACKGROUND
Founded by former Major League Baseball player Darrell P. Jackson, the 10-20 Club has been a cornerstone of youth development in Downey, the Downey Unified School District, and across Los Angeles County since 1992. The program was established to offer early intervention for at-risk youth, supporting the Gangs Out of Downey (G.O.O.D.) initiative.
As a non-profit organization, the 10-20 Club focuses on enhancing decision-making abilities, fostering healthy coping skills, and reducing isolation among young people.
Through its comprehensive programs, targeted interventions, and strong community relationships, the 10-20 Club is dedicated to empowering today’s youth to thrive.
