Throughout the City, there are 602 Type “R- occupancies and 28 Type “E” occupancies requiring annual inspection under SB1205. The combined efforts of Fire Prevention personnel and Fire Suppression crews have performed a minimum of one inspection at each of these locations during the year. At times, follow-up visits are necessary to ensure that code violations are corrected and compliance with regulatory requirements is maintained. While many other locations and occupancies throughout the City require inspection at least annually, Types "R” and -E- are the only ones requiring an annual report and resolution
ANALYSIS
The attached report represents inspections conducted within the previous 12 months, as required by state law. During Fiscal Year 2023-2024, Downey Fire Department personnel have conducted inspections at each of the 602 Type “R- and 28 Type “E” mandated locations. This figure is an increase of 1 1.8 percent over the previous year. Of the 630 total inspected locations, 53 will require follow up inspection to ensure fire and life safety standards are met through compliance with the Fire Code. These locations have all been scheduled for reinspection
