Flag Status: Flagged
Dear City Council Members,
1 am writing to formally submit a public comment regarding the urgent need for a crossing guard at Edith Unsworth Elementary, which I hope can be addressed at your upcoming council meeting.

I am a parent of a student at Edith Unsworth Elementary. We urgently need the council's support to get a crossing guard in place for our school's crosswalks. Despite being a T-junction where three roads meet, only one road has a stop sign.

This lack of proper signage, combined with cars regularly parking in and blocking the crosswalks, creates dangerous conditions for our children during drop-offs and pickups.

To better illustrate these challenges, I have documented the conditions we face daily, which can be viewed at this link:

Sincerely,
Breon Waters II

Subject: April 2024 presentation of plaque to Richard Carpenter at Carpenters 55th Follow Up Flag: Follow up
Flag Status: Flagged
Dear Ms. Duarte,
After speaking with the mayor's office, I would like to submit this for public comment at the council meeting tomorrow 2/25/25. 1 would like some answers.

After presenting the plaque that paid tribute to the Carpenters to Richard Carpenter on April 27, 2024 along with Mayor Trujillo in attendance. I would like to have the plaque back to give to Richard Carpenter. So would the fans who donated to it.

I was told the plaque would be placed in Furman Park the week after that presentation. When that didn't happen, I was told that the plaques were being stolen and it would be a few more weeks. They were waiting for crime to slow. I said if there was a 1% chance it would be stolen, I didn't want it there. I was then told it would be up by the end of summer. At the end of summer the decision was made to put it in the display case at the Downey Public Library. I have been checking with the library and that display was taken down a few months ago. Now, I don't know where the plaque is (I assume it's sitting in a box on the floor somewhere in the library).

I spent 6 years working on this and $2000 spent on this project. I raised over $1200 for this and the city made the decision to throw in a donation, of which I never saw or got the receipt. I have my receipts where we had it made. I really would like to just give it to Mr. Carpenter so he can display it. It needs to be in a permanent display.

Please let me know how this is received at the meeting and if any solutions are brought up.

Thank you,
Erin Gatlin
