Dear Downey City Clerk,
I am writing to express my support for the Home and Business Security Rebate Program recently introduced by the City Council. This initiative is a commendable effort to enhance the safety and security of our community, and I approve of its implementation.
However, I would like to bring to your attention a matter that I believe warrants reconsideration. The current structure of the rebate program allocates a maximum rebate of $1500 for businesses, while homeowners are eligible for a significantly lower maximum rebate of $250. 1 respectfully request that the City Council consider treating homeowner associations and apartment buildings as businesses for the purposes of this rebate program.
Homeowner associations and apartment buildings often manage properties that house numerous residents, akin to small businesses in terms of scale and responsibility. These entities have substantial security needs to ensure the safety of all residents, which can entail significant financial investments. Additionally, associations and apartments with 4 or more units are treated as commercial use with respect to waste management, so treating associations/apartments as businesses is not out of the ordinary. By categorizing homeowner associations and apartment buildings as businesses, they would be eligible for the $1500 maximum rebate, providing them with the necessary support to implement comprehensive security measures.
I am confident that this adjustment would lead to a more equitable distribution of resources and further enhance the overall security of our community. Thank you for considering my request.
Sincerely,
Hanna Kim Yoon

Subject: EV charging - Need more Level 2 stations

Hello City Council
Please consider adding more Level 2 charging stations throughout the city.
Rancho Los Amigos has a perfect example of what the city needs more of, 25 plugs running on the Power Flex network on the ground floor of their parking garage.
I understand DC fast chargers are being considered for the library. They bring added costly repairs and more expensive charging cost. The city already has plenty of available DC fast charging operated by EVGO, Electrify America and Tesla. Upgrading(48amp) and adding to the current Level 2 chargers around the city would make better use of the funding IMO.
Thanks
