Mario, you are absolutely the epitome of a human being. Your comments were absolutely appalling and even though you and others that have made these statements on Charlie Kirk, will never be accepted. As an Attorney, you should know to think, before you speak.
You, are what's wrong with the world, but especially in my city of Downey for 50 + years. I hope the city officials can have you removed, just like all your other counterparts that made these type of statements. Please leave the city.

Subject: Calling for the Removal of Councilman Mario Trujillo Follow Up Flag: Follow up
Flag Status: Flagged
Mello,
I am writing to express my deep concern and outrage over the recent comments made by Councilman Mario Trujillo regarding the assasination of Charlie Kirk.
Councilman Trujillo's words were vile, divisive, dismissive, and disrespectful. Rather than promoting unity and civility, his remarks serve only to inflame tensions and foster hostility within our community. Elected officials hold a responsibility to uphold the dignity of their office and to set an example of respectful discourse and humane compassion, regardless of political disagreements. Councilman Trujillo has failed in this responsibility. I do not feel safe with this man in office.
We, the people of Downey, deserve leaders who embody respect, integrity, accountability, and value human life regardless of people's beliefs. Councilman Trujillo's conduct is a disgrace to our city, our government, and our country. Therefore, we call upon the Downey City Council to take immediate action and remove Mario Trujillo from office.
The residents of Downey should not be represented by someone who uses their position to sow division and encourage animosity. Our city must stand for civility, respect, and responsible leadership. Most importantly, our officials should always value the sanctity of human life.
Please direct my message to whomever can best assist me in voicing my concern and advise me on any steps I can take to initiate a recall of him from office.
Sincerely,
1 Ivy McEwen
Resident of Downey

Dear City Council Office,
I am writing to express my profound outrage and disgust regarding the deplorable actions of Downey City Councilmember Mario Trujillo. The recent allegations that he has mocked the assassination of an individual, as highlighted in public discourse, are utterly reprehensible and demonstrate a shocking lack of moral integrity.
Celebrating or trivializing the death of any person, regardless of circumstances, is a disgrace to the office he holds and the community he serves.
Such behavior is not only evil but also undermines the trust and respect that the people of Downey deserve from their elected officials. Councilmember Trujillo's actions reflect a disturbing insensitivity that has no place in public service. I demand his immediate resignation to preserve the dignity of the Downey City Council and to send a clear message that this kind of conduct will not be tolerated.
I urge you to address this matter with the utmost seriousness and take appropriate action. The people of Downey deserve better representation.

To the City of Downey,
I would like to express how wrong Mario Trujillo's comments on Charlie Kirk posted on social media was. I believe it was irresponsible of Mario Trujillo to put out those comments about Charlie Kirk. His job is to run the City of Downey not tell us his political views. That's not what the people voted him for. It was wrong and disrespectful. City of Downey should be ashamed of Mario Trujillo's.comments.
Thank you,
Tony Cantillo

Subject: First Amendment Concern Regarding Downey Council Member Social Media Practices Follow Up Flag: Follow up
Flag Status: Flagged
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to raise a concern regarding the social media practices of Downey City Councilmember Mario Trujillo. Specifically, I have observed that Councilmember Trujillo has disabled the ability for the public to comment on posts made in his official capacity. In addition, several social media influencers have publicly stated that they were blocked from accessing his posts after expressing critical views.
When an elected official uses social media to communicate about city business, council activities, or constituent matters, the account functions as a public forum. Courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court in Lindke v. Freed (2024), have made clear that removing opportunities for public comment or blocking users based on viewpoint constitutes unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination in violation of the First Amendment.
I respectfully request that the City of Downey review this matter to ensure that Councilmember Trujillo's use of social media complies with constitutional requirements and that the public is not unlawfully restricted from participating in dialogue about city governance.
Please confirm receipt of this complaint and inform me of the steps the City will take to address it.
Sincerely,
George Morales

Dear Downey City Council:
would like to address the council, in specific Mr. Trujillo, regarding the special meeting from last night. Mr. Trujillo, in light of your remarks I would like for you to answer the following questions for me...
1) Given, your answer, that you should be able to answer the residents back in a vile manner, as long as you did not initiate the conversation:
Do you think it's ok for a teacher to curse at their students if the students curse at them first? Do you think it's ok for a parent to curse at their children, if they curse at their parents first? Do you think it's ok for a Dr./Nurse/Law enforcement to curse back if they get cursed at first? You see there are many people in different positions that encounter the same situations as you, yet do so with integrity.
Are you out representing teachers/Dr.s/law enforcement rights to curse back as long as they are cursed at first?
Your response to why you do this clearly shows, us all, that you lack self - control. And not only lack it you are governed by your emotions. As a council and much more as an attorney it is alarming that you served in any of these positions. I'm concerned that you were involved in the educational and judicial system at all. As an attorney you know better than to be driven by emotions. That just shows you lack the ability to distinguish facts from your own agenda. You should not be allowed to serve anyone without having these capabilities. You put to shame the Hispanic community among all the other communities you choose to represent.
2) As a attorney are you ok with the death penalty? You know life for life, eye for an eye? If you state that you are allowed to react back the way others react to you, than this should be across in your beliefs. You cannot argue, your view on why react a certain way, without being consistent
across. Again this shows you only believe these rules apply to you and all that matters are your feelings.
3) Are you fighting for the Christian flag in the same manner you keep mentioning the LGBTQ flag to be displayed?
You cannot claim to represent your constituents if you are not representing all, but only those you "feel" need to. Again this shows you are only looking out for yourself. Downey, as a whole, chose not to allow the flag in order to stay neutral and what represented its constituents the best.
We the people of Downey, that are not represented under your views, would like you to resign under the fact that you lack self control and ability to represent us in a professional, dignified manner. We ask that you take time to deeply reflect on your conduct as any type of representative and if unable to practice self control, that you rethink being a public figure representing someone. As a public figure you are held at a higher standard and if you refuse to, this is not the field for you.
FYI: You might want to look at some of Charlie Kirks videos, he got yelled at cursed and still did not respond in like manner, that is why he is respected by so many, even many who opposed him, he had self control and promoted it.
Also, please don't reply giving me examples of others, who you think do the same. These questions are directed at you and your actions as our representative, not anyone else's. We're each accountable for our own actions, we can't go around blaming others.
Sincerely a concerned resident,
Michelle
