To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my interest in serving on the Dunsmuir Recreation and Park District Board of Directors.
I care deeply about the long-term strength, livability, and sense of community in the Dunsmuir area.
Parks and recreation play a central role in supporting families, creating shared spaces, and maintaining the character that makes this community unique. As a parent, I especially value the importance of safe, accessible, and well-maintained recreational spaces for children and families.
While I was not originally born here, my family has deep roots in this region spanning multiple generations, and I have developed a strong personal connection to the community. I am committed to being involved in a way that is practical, consistent, and focused on long-term benefit.
I bring leadership experience from my time as a U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant, along with professional experience managing teams, coordinating operations, and improving systems in high-responsibility environments. Additionally, I am in the process of developing a local small business, which has further strengthened my understanding of community engagement and the importance of maintaining spaces that serve both residents and visitors.
If selected, I would approach this role with professionalism, consistency, and a focus on practical, community-minded decision-making. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute and serve the District to the best of my ability.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
Michael Kay
