A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO IMPLEMENT A LIMITED-TERM LEAVE
EXTENSION OR CASH-OUT OPTION PROGRAM FOR VACATION ACCRUALS WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted City staff and their ability to use their Executive/Management Leave and/or Vacation Leave, which in some cases caused employees to exceed caps related to their vacation accrual limit; and WHEREAS, the City Manager is seeking authority to implement a onetime vacation cash out of up to 40 hours for eligible employees; and WHEREAS, City employees at or withing 10% of their maximum vacation accrual at the end of the second pay period in June 2022, per applicable bargaining agreement would be eligible to receive a one-time payout of up to 40 hours of vacation time; and WHEREAS, the maximum estimated cost of the one-time maximum of 40 hours vacation payout program is $45,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO HEREBY authorizes the City Manager implement a onetime vacation cash out, up to a combined maximum of 40 hours of vacation for eligible employees for a maximum estimated cost of $45,000.
