RESOLUTION NO. XX – 2022
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO
AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF A NO PARKING ZONE ON A PORTION OF BLUE JAY
COURT, SALAS COURT, AND DONOHOE STREET
WHEREAS, staff received two requests to restrict parking along portions of Blue Jay Court and Salas Court due to safety reasons; and
WHEREAS, upon receiving the request, city staff performed field visits and verified that both culde-sac’s do not meet the Fire Department’s minimum entrance requirements; and WHEREAS, the resident on Salas Court also raised a concern regarding vehicles parking along the red curbs on Donohoe making it difficult for vehicles to see oncoming traffic; and WHEREAS, the City of East Palo Alto’s Police Department cannot enforce parking unless appropriate signage is erected in accordance with a City Council Resolution restricting parking; and WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Commission, at its April 20, 2022 meeting, recommended the installation of no parking signs on a portion of Blue Jay Court; and WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Commission, at its May 17, 2022 meeting, recommended the installation of no parking signs on a portion of Salas Court and Donohoe Street; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 22507, the parking of any type of vehicle on certain streets or highways may be prohibited or restricted by a general law city, during all or certain hours of a day, where signs or markings giving adequate notice of such regulations have been placed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO HEREBY authorizes the installation of a no parking zone as follows:
- Along the north side of Donohoe Street from the centerline of Salas Court to 74 ft easterly - Along the north side of Donohoe Street from the centerline of Salas Court to 65 ft westerly - Along the east side of Salas Court from the centerline of Donohoe Street to 38 ft northerly - Along the west side of Salas Court from the centerline of Donohoe Street to 176 ft northerly - Along the west side of Blue Jay Court from the centerline of Runnymede Street 65 ft northerly PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of June 2022, by the following vote:
