A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND SUBMIT THE RESPONSE LETTER TO THE SAN MATEO COUNTY 2021-2022 CIVIL GRAND JURY REPORT “THE OTHER WATER WORRY: IS YOUR WATER PROVIDER PREPARED FOR THE BIG ONE?”
WHEREAS, on August 5, 2022, the San Mateo County 2021-2022 Civil Grand Jury issued a report titled “The Other Water Worry: Is Your Water Provider Prepared for the Big One?” (Report) to the presiding judge of the San Mateo County Superior Court; and WHEREAS, the City of East Palo Alto (“City”), like other water providers in San Mateo County, is required to submit a response to the findings and recommendations in the Report; and WHEREAS, the Report investigated sixteen water provides in San Mateo to determine if each water provider was prepared to supply water to customers in the event of a major catastrophic seismic event; and
WHEREAS, the City has prepared a response letter to the San Mateo County 2021-2022 Civil Grand Jury Report.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO HEREBY authorizes the Mayor to sign the City’s response letter to the San Mateo County 2021-2022 Civil Grand Jury Report: “The Other Water Worry: Is Your Water Provider Prepared For The Big One?” and to submit the response letter to the presiding judge of the San Mateo County Superior Court.
