A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO APPROVING TWO SIDE LETTER AGREEMENTS
BETWEEN THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO AND THE EAST PALO ALTO POLICE OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is the collective bargaining agreement between the City of East Palo Alto (City) and the East Palo Alto Police Officers’ Association (POA); and
WHEREAS, the City and the POA ratified an MOU effective July 19, 2022; and WHEREAS, on July 19, 2022, the City Council also established a Recruitment/Retention Bonus Program to recruit and retain police officers, but this program was not mentioned in the MOU; and
WHEREAS, during the negotiation process leading up to the City and POA agreement on the MOU, staff removed language regarding employees of the POA “working out of classification” and
WHEREAS, the City and POA have met and conferred in good faith.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO HEREBY authorizes the execution of the Side Letters attached hereto as Exhibit A and Exhibit B, respectively and makes them part of the MOU effective July 19, 2022.
