Adopt the Resolution Reciting the Facts of the General Municipal Election held on November 8, 2022, declaring the results thereof, and such other matters as are provided by law.
Background
The San Mateo County Registration and Elections Division completed the Official Canvass of the Vote of the November 8, 2022 Presidential General Election. Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, certified and issued certificates that all the votes for the two candidates and the ballot measure had been processed and recorded within the boundaries of the City of East Palo Alto. The number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City for Measure L and candidates for City Council are listed in Exhibit A of the Resolution (Attachment 2).
Ruben Abrica and Martha F. Barragan were elected to each fill a four-year term for the City Council. Measure L was passed by the voters as it successfully attained the required 2/3 voter approval.
Fiscal Impact
Funds were allocated to the City Clerk’s Office to cover the costs of the elections for the Fiscal year 2021-22 budget. Actual costs will be billed to the City of East Palo Alto from the San Mateo County Registration and Elections Division in early 2023.
