RESOLUTION NO.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL

OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO

AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DIRECT VEOLIA TO PERFORM WATER SYSTEM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS AT 2415 UNIVERSITY AVENUE
WHEREAS, 2415 University Avenue is a San Mateo County owned facility (Facility) with tenants such as the County library, City Hall, and others; and
WHEREAS, the Facility is served by an 8-inch cast iron watermain which runs from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) turnout at O’Brien down a quarter mile along University Avenue without any other service connections before reaching 2415 University Avenue; and

WHEREAS, tenants at the Facility have complained about water discoloration which can be related to scour build-up in the watermain; and
WHEREAS, water sampling at the Facility has revealed safe, potable water that meets State standards; and
WHEREAS, replacement of the water connection to the Facility from University Avenue to a new connection along Bay Road should address potential scour build-up concerns which can be associated with water discoloration; and
WHEREAS, San Mateo County, has agreed in principle to fund half of the expense for the project

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO HEREBY:

1. Finds the foregoing recitals to be true and correct and incorporated by this reference into this action; and

3. Authorizes the City Manager to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with San Mateo County wherein the County will fund half of this project. [continued on next page]
