Why would you like to serve on the Rent Stabilization Board? As the oldest serving member on the Rent Stabilization Board at this time, I am well-versed with the workings of the Board. I am not afraid to give my opinion on issues even when I am the only one with that opinion. I study rent conflict issues extensively and impartially and I vote fairly, taking into consideration both tenant and landlord positions. I know the rent Ordinance, the parameters of a board's jurisdiction, and how to apply legislative requirements. Impartiality is the crux of voting on rent issues. I value my 16 years on the RSB and would be honored to serve the people of East Palo Alto again.

Why would you like to serve on the Rent Stabilization Board? I have lived in East Palo Alto for 25 years, first as a tenant, now as a homeowner and most recently as a landlord as I converted my garage into a legal ADU. I work for a community based organization whose mission is to end homelessness and through that work have talked to both tenants and landlords and tried to create positive relationship that are successful for both parties. I believe the combination of my personal experience in East Palo Alto and all the changes I have seen in this community,and my career give me a unique perspective on the needs of both tenants and landlords. I believe East Palo needs to provide equitable solutions to the complex housing crisis we face and I hope by serving on the rent stabilization board to bring a thoughtful perspective to the table , with a desire to ensure that our community maintains its wonderful diversity,and creates and sustains affordable long housing opportunities for our residents.
