DEFENSIBLE SPACE INSPECTIONS WITHIN THE FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONES AS DESIGNATED BY CAL FIRE, “ZONE ZERO” DEFENSIBLE SPACE AND HOME HARDENING
REQUIREMENTS, THAT QUALIFY PROPERTY OWNERS A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE
FROM THE CITY EL CERRITO FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR EXISTING STRUCTURES WITHIN
CLASSIFICATIONS OF THE FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONES AND DESIGNATING FIRE
HAZARD SEVERITY ZONES AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 51178 TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 2025 – 6:00 PM
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the El Cerrito City Council will hear a proposed ordinance to consider establishing procedures regarding defensible space inspections within the Fire Hazard Severity Zones as designated by Cal Fire, “Zone Zero” defensible space requirements and home hardening requirements, that qualify property owners for a certificate of compliance from the City of El Cerrito Fire Department for existing structures within classification of the Fire Hazard Severity zones, and designating fire hazard severity zones as recommended by the California department of forestry and fire protection pursuant to Government code section 51178.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that said ordinance will be introduced on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 6:00 p.m., or thereafter, in the City Council Chambers, located at El Cerrito City Hall, 10890 San Pablo Avenue. Additional information can be found in the meeting materials at www.elcerrito.org/CouncilMeetingMaterials available at least 72 hours before the meeting.

CONSERVATION MANAGEMENT PLAN
TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 2025 – 6:00 p.m.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the El Cerrito City Council will conduct a public hearing to consider adoption of a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) and the Hillside Natural Area Fire Resilience and Forest Conservation Management Plan (Plan). The purpose of the Plan, which was developed with community input, is to guide the City of El Cerrito’s fire fuel reduction, native forest conservation and maintenance activities. The Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration was released for a 30-day comment period from March 13, 2025 to April 14, 2025. The Plan, CEQA documents, and the response to comments are posted at https://www.el-cerrito.org/1650/Hillside-Natural-Area-Plan.
