Invited everyone to a job and resources fair on Saturday, July 18, 2026. There are 24 confirmed participants sharing information on employment, some will be taking job applications. There will be a lot of resources available there. Active SGV will be providing information on the e-bike program as well as the car share program that was launched last week. Would it be possible to get recap on the 4 th of July.

Captain Luna provided an update to the City Council. There were 10 citations issued from the 1st to the 5th.

18B. Mayor Pro Tem Longoria

18C. Councilwoman Cortez

Thanked staff and all of those who participated in the Banda Machos event. There will be another great event this month. Everyone who has been participating, local businesses have been selling out. The City supports the small business community. There we re also a lot of PD events, it is great to partner with businesses and the Police Department is out there meeting the community. The POA breakfast pancake was exciting. The Dodger Dream Team, Parks & Rec did an amazing job. Was invited on June 28th to Sally event. Had the Police Officers Foundation golf tournament. Gave a shout out to the City and Councilmember Herrera for the Coordinating Council meeting.

Invited the community to spend money in District 5. There are a lot of good meat places in District 5. Wanted to remind the community that Bingo with the cop will take place on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

City Council Meeting Minutes of July 8, 2026

12 18F. Councilman Herrera

The second day involved the US Chamber of Commerce who were there to discuss the same topic. Toured the Emergency Operations Center of Walmart.

Walmart recognizes its role in the community of being a provider of resources in times of crisis and disaster management. From this sublevel operation center they were monitoring operations throughout the globe. Some of the takeaways were the importance of having an AI Use Policy in place. The Police Department uses AI in their applications, and the question is how the rest of the organization uses AI in their own operations. Need to take a look to make sure that as an organization the City has policies that govern the use of AI. In preparation for that spent time at the Police Department to look at the Dispatch C enter and look at the software being used very impressive to look at the work being done by the dispatchers.

18G. Councilwoman Dr. Ruedas

Expressed sincere appreciation to NALEO Education Fund for selection Councilmembers Herrera and Dr. Ruedas to receive a scholarship to participate in the 2026 Policy Institute on Technology and AI and Emergency Management.

Joined elected officials from across the country on the at the Walmart campus in Arkansas where they explored how emerging technology are shaping the future of emergency management and public safety. Sincere thanks to NALEO, Walmart and the Public Affairs and Community Relations team. This experience reinforced the importance of innovation, collaboration and proactive leadership in preparing communities for emergencies and future challenges.
