Paula Schliekelman, Diane Schramm -Agnello, Kathy Mendoza, Stacie Peterson, Kimberly Mendoza, James McCarthy , and Elizabeth Fong raised concern of recent reductions in offering spay and neuter services at the Animal Shelter, and requested the City provide additional resources for Veterinary care to provide spay and neuter services to address feral cat colonies in Elk Grove. Suggestions were made to consider a mobile veterinary clinic, offering additional days for spay / neuter services for feral cats, and using space at the Animal Shelter to hold feral cats brought in until such time as surgeries could be conducted. Ms. Fong raised concern regarding a feral cat colony that she watched over, that after a complaint regarding the feral cat colony was received it resulted in the City clearing the area that negatively disrupted that feral cat colony , and she believed clearer lines of communication between the City and those managing feral cat colonies could minimize such disruptions.
