[EXTERNAL EMAIL]
Dear honorable Mayor, Vice Mayor and Council Members,
I am writing this letter to you super last minute because I thought I could attend the hearing in person, however I had to have surgery today and I'm too groggy to drive a car.

I wanted to make sure you knew that the consequences of approving a Barnes and Noble bookstore in Elk Grove would be grave for our only bookstore now, A SEAT at the Table books.

You all know and love Emily and Ryan and what their bookstore does for our community! They are working themselves into the ground to keep this dream alive. Small business in Elk Grove is becoming rough due to the many franchises and big retail we are approving.

Let's help A Seat at the Table alive and thriving by making sure we let Barnes and Noble head elsewhere. I'm not usually one for picking and choosing business because I believe in open commerce but in this instance I feel like AS@T books is just now finding its stride. Small family owned businesses need to have a fighting chance.

Thank you,
Mackenzie Wieser

Former City of Elk Grove Planning Commissioner
