Hello Ms. Kirchgessner,

I sent an email earlier today to you but I think it did not go through.

In essence I was was disappointed to hear
the builder was going to remove the swimming pool, patios and balconies for the new low income housing apartment complex of Poppy Ridge in order to construct more units.

The complex will be located near tanks which
is already not an ideal location.

The removal of those housing options will further result in a more stark and sterile- like appearance for future residents and the community and members of Elk Grove.

As a low income housing area,
why further create a more negative, disparate appearance that is not on par with other apartment complexes in the area.

The builder is not creating homes that merge with the existing community.

Future residents should be able to
maintain their dignity and live in housing that has similar attributes to other apartment complexes in the area (across the street at Quail Run) and not live in what could be easily identified as “the project apartments”.

As a member of the community of Elk Grove, I would like it to continue to grow and progress to be a beautiful community without distinct pockets of ugly as what this builder is creating.

I have the terrible sense that this builder
is just out for money and not trying to truly invest in this community in a positive way.

Why should we lower the
city’s development standards just to increase units?

If the builder is allowed to continue, we are going to be stuck with such a terrible eye sore for generations akin to NYC Project Housing and Russian/Siberian multistory apartments.

Do community member comments count? Or do only the council members opinions and votes count towards allowing this?

What is needed to prevent this project continuing with the reduced development standards?

I know
this will come across as emotional and yes, I am, because this matters.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best,
Mona Tenorio

Good morning. I do not agree with the amendment. Not including recreation for the affordable housing units can lead to boredom for residents and trouble in the community. Chances are they can’t afford much recreation on their own. I want the pool and balconies to be included as it was in the original plan. A better quality of life for all is good for the entire community. Elk Grove is a family centered city where people are happy. I want the apartments to reflect the Elk Grovian culture and keep up with the beautification and appeal of the neighborhood, as in their original plans. Thanks for hearing my point of view.
