REGULAR MEETING

From:

To: Jason Lindgren
Subject: Excessive Vehicle Parking on Elk Grove"s Sutherland Way Date: Tuesday, October 24, 2023 2:15:25 AM
You don't often get email from
[EXTERNAL EMAIL]
Request to address the burgeoning vehicle parking problem on Elk Grove's Sutherland Way where a renter occupies scare parking with multiple

vehicles, some of which have
expired/ license plates or no license plates. A letter was sent to Mayor Singh-Allen in March and the mayor responded that she'd have her staff check into it. However, the occupant continues his misdeeds despite admonishments from EGPD/CODE ENFORCEMENT. He also has resumed working out of his garage on vehicles dropped off at his residence by friends/associates, clearly a violation

of Elk Grove's housing codes.

Documentation/security videos will be presented during

the city council meeting. I'm
having problems

with loading them on this e-mail. Thank you!!
Sincerely,

Respected Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and Other Members,
I am wring to express my keen interest in joining Diversity and Inclusion Commission as a member. I can contribute posively with my diverse background, be commited to the role, and serve as a resource for you and our community.

I am a woman in my late thires who is mother of two amazing kids and has a passion for educaon, inclusion, and to contribute to our community to make it beter for ourselves and future generaons. I came to the United States in 2004 aer compleng high school in India and had no knowledge about the American Educaonal system. I was determined to get my educaon and researched thoroughly and got accepted to UC Davis and completed my bachelor’s degree while working three jobs. During my educaon at UC Davis, I made many friends from different backgrounds and learned so much from them.

I obtained my Cerfied Public Accountant (CPA) license in 2017 while working full me and being a mother to my new born son. I am a self-movated individual who likes to try new things and keeps herself busy with mulple tasks. At my previous posion of Accounng Manager, I voluntarily obtained a licensed in Cerfied Payroll Professional (CPP) as I was managing payroll and wanted to learn more about it. In addion, I obtained Notary Public license as our company was in the need of one and I volunteered.

I don’t shy away from learning new things and working hard. I am a reliable individual who managers her me very effecvely and can manage mulple things at the same me. During my educaon and my work tenure, I have made several posive relaonships with people who I am sll in contact with. If you ask my friends or colleagues, they will describe me as a posive, calm, happy, and self-movated person who takes iniaves to make posive changes. I embody honesty, fairness, and respect in my daily acons and like to work as a team and love collaborang with others. I am confident that my me management and passion to contribute to community will help me in this role.

I am fully commited to spend my me (evening hours, weekends, and holidays) and skills, if chosen, for this role. When I was obtaining my C PA license, I was able to handle work, personal life, and study effecvely with my excellent me management skills. I also have good communicaon and analycal skills and can think out of the box. I am enthusiasc about the opportunity to contribute my knowledge/experience and energy to this role. I am a very organized and reliable person and believe that I will be a good addion to the exisng team. I am proficient in technology and can help the team conduct surveys for feedback and informaon. I am a posive thinker, open minded, and a crical thinker who can think about different direcons to make sure that the outreach to public is welcoming and shows inclusivity. I have knowledge about different cultures and their celebraons and happy to educate myself more by doing my research to make sure Elk Grove celebraons and events include all cultures so the people feel that they belong to a community that understand their culture and excited to celebrate it with them.

Sidhu, Amrit

It is 2023 and I believe that women are sll not represented in a good rao compared to men in different posions that can make a difference. Being a member of minority, I aspire to encourage litle girls to wear mulple hats and make a posive impact in our community. I am commited as an Elk Grove Cizen to serve as a resource for city government and the community by providing informaon, educaon, and communicaon that facilitates a beter understanding and celebrates our differences. I parcipated in UC Davis Leadership Program where we conducted a diversity fair at the end of our quarter and invited different ethnic groups and had them share interesng things and food from their culture. It was a successful event and I got good feedback about this iniave. Diversity is more than just cultural diversity, it is about learning different social backgrounds, different genders and sexual orientaons and even different styles of learning and communicaon. I want to serve as a resource to provide more educaon regarding diversity and want to be open minded about learning more and spreading it posively in our community. I love to plan and organize events and looking forward to assist our city in planning various events and acvies. I am eager to acvely parcipate along with the exisng team to make sure we show our community that diversity, equity, inclusion, and social jusce are important and the elected members and elected officials are working hard on achieving that.

I am ataching my resume as a reference. Thank you for considering my applicaon for review. I look forward to the opportunity and will look forward on working together if given a chance. Thank you for taking the me to read my leter.

Sincerely,
Amrit Sidhu

Advisory Commission Application – Diversity and Inclusion Commission Supplemental Information

1. How will you be a Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador? I envision my role as the Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador would bring my life, and valuable work and educational experiences to support Elk Grove by establishing Diversity, Inclusion Equity and Belonging (DEI&B) priorities and cultivating a more equitable, accessible, safe, welcoming, and inclusive government and community culture where all feel respected and included, and we celebrate differences.

2. Is there anything you would like to share with the City Council related to your experience with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and/or Social Justice? I have spent 20 plus years of my career in various roles that contribute to the administration of employee benefits. In my current role, that I have been in since July 2020, I am the Chief of the (California government workforce) Statewide Employee Benefits, where I oversee the administration of the various 28 employee benefit program and services for our estimated 233,000 employees, 167,000 retirees and 97,000 dependents. In 2021, I lead the efforts to establish the state’s first Statewide Engagement Program where we brought together our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Wellness, Awards & Recognition and established a new Employee Engagement Program. These programs and services have been essential in holistically supporting the individual’s overall wellbeing through the COVID pandemic and as we evolve our post pandemic workforce operations. Through effective stakeholder collaboration I have brought focus to the employee experience through five essential elements of wellbeing to create sustainable interventions, promote justice, retain diverse workforce, and change the way work gets done within the state to improve equity, so every employee feels safe, respected, and included and we execute innovative and creative strategies aligned with our strategic plan and diversity goals.

Some of these efforts include providing guidance and strategies to improve equity in compensation, professional development, and policies. Establishing Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to review and analyze practices to assess how operational efficiencies support or hinder the organization’s employee wellbeing and DE&I goals. In addition, we have enhanced recruitment strategies to attract talent from diverse backgrounds and promotes a workforce for all.

As a resident of the Elk Grove Community for the last 8 years, I have enjoyed living in a diverse city that values and celebrates differences. Through the various city improvements and events Elk Grove is a community that strives to support the wellbeing of residents and visitors. Prior to moving to Elk Grove and considering where to relocate to take a new job in Sacramento, it was important to find a city where my family would feel accepted and safe.
