Oswaldo Ocegueda requested support of trades related policies to require approved labor standards, offering apprenticeship programs, offering comprehensive healthcare, and a commitment to local hiring for future development.

John L raised concerns of money laundering, noted issues he had encountered with police services, and stated that he was elevating the money laundering issues he had observed to state oversight committees.

Liz Marshall opposed transitional housing being contemplated at 8484 Elk Grove Florin Road, raising concern there had been no outreach, and a project of such scope and scale was not an appropriate fit with the surrounding residential neighborhoods and would bring increased impacts on traffic, blight, crime, school overcrowding, and personal safety.

Ms. Marshall did not believe there were adequate services in the location for such a facility, and inquired if prospective tenants would be screened.

Leo Naranjo IV appreciated the City’s efforts concerning the Oak Rose Settlement , appreciated the City hearing resident concerns, and expressed disappointment with local media coverage and state lawsuits concerning local planning and affordable housing development.

Steve Lee expressed frustration with the history and handling of providing affordable housing in California, and was disappointed with the costs of the Oak Rose Settlement .

He believed the new project will be forced into another neighborhood and raise similar issues, and he believed there needed to be more fiscal responsibility regarding cost overruns and staffing issues with City facilities, and was wary of costs in pursuing the Zoo Project.

Randy O’Rourke , Brian Coulson, and Randy Bekker appreciated the City’s efforts concerning the Oak Rose Settlement, expressing support of development and growth in the City, but advocated that projects be assessed and appropriately located in the community.
