Subject: Council Meeting Comment 03.27.24: Grant Funding Proposal for CLASSY INC Date: Wednesday, March 27, 2024 3:52:41 PM
[EXTERNAL EMAIL]
Dear Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, Vice Mayor Rod Brewer, Council Member Kevin Spase, Council Member Sergio Robles, and Council Member Darren Suen, I trust this message finds you in good health and high spirits. My name is Keadrian Belcher- Harris, and I serve as the CEO of CLASSY INC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering educational resources and philanthropic opportunities to the youth of Northern California for over 16 years.

As a proud resident and parent deeply ingrained in the Elk Grove community for the past quarter-century, I come to you today with a heartfelt plea. The recent challenges brought forth by the pandemic have unveiled profound vulnerabilities in our educational systems, particularly within the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD). CLASSY INC has tirelessly stepped up to bridge these gaps, offering invaluable support to our local youth as they navigate the uncertain terrain of post-secondary education and career pathways.

With five children of my own who have traversed the halls of Elk Grove schools, I understand intimately the critical role that community partnerships play in shaping the futures of our young residents. Our programs have been a beacon of hope for countless students, providing them with the resources, mentorship, and guidance they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Your esteemed council members have always demonstrated a commendable commitment to the welfare of our community's youth. Your continued support and advocacy have not gone unnoticed, and for that, we are profoundly grateful. Today, I humbly beseech you to consider our proposal for grant funding, which will enable us to expand and enhance our services for Elk Grove youth even further.

By investing in CLASSY INC, you are not merely funding a program; you are investing in the future of Elk Grove. Your support will empower us to continue our vital work, ensuring that every young person in our community has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

I implore you to seize this moment to make a tangible difference in the lives of our youth.

Together, let us pave the way for a brighter, more prosperous future for Elk Grove.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication to our community's well-being. I eagerly await the opportunity to discuss our proposal with you further and explore how we can

collaborate to uplift the next generation of Elk Grove leaders.

With deepest gratitude and warm regards,
Keadrian Belcher-Harris

Hello,
I am writing because I would like to submit my public comment for today's city council meeting after Section 8.1 regarding allocations for the CSG grants. My comment is below. I will be in attendance at the meeting today and would like to say my comment aloud. Thank you very much! On behalf of Alchemist CDC’s CalFresh at Farmers’ Market Program at Laguna Gateway Plaza Farmers’ Market,
Thank you for funding this program year after year. In 2023, we facilitated the distribution of more than $126,000 in combined Calfresh benefits and Market Match incentives at this farmers’ market alone. This means that every dollar you invested into this program last year facilitated $10 in purchasing power for fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables. We are confident that your renewed funding for 2024 will maintain this level of impact. Thank you.

As a resident of the city of Elk Grove I would like to register my sincere DISAPPROVAL of the proposal to outfit the police department with drones. Drones, whether in use by private citizens or the police, present a significant potential of personal privacy invasion. Personal privacy abuses by governments, military and police departments have been by been well documented and the City of Elk Grove does not need to contribute to further erosion of personal privacy.

We don’t need drone’s in this town. We have called for police help on 3 occasions and only 1 time did anyone show up. No calls or follow up from police. We are told to file a report online and still never got any reply. I will vote NO! Put a Ass in the seat of a patrol car and respond when needed.
