CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL
Mayor Singh-Allen called the special City Council meeting of May 8, 2024, to order at 5:30 p.m.
Present: Mayor Singh-Allen, and Council Members Spease and Suen.
Absent: Vice Mayor Brewer and Council Member Robles (Vice Mayor Brewer arrived at 5:45 p.m. and Council Member Robles arrived at 5:40 p.m.).
CLOSED SESSION
There were no public requests to speak.
The City Clerk announced the following closed session items prior to the City Council adjourning to closed session at 5:31 p.m.:
A) CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL – EXISTING LITIGATION:
Pursuant to paragraph (1) of subdivision (d) of Government Code Section 54956.9:
Three (3) Matters:
1. The People of the State of California, et al. v. City of Elk Grove, et al.
Sacramento Superior Court Case No. 23WM000004
2. Oak Rose Apts LP, a California limited partnership v. City of Elk Grove Sacramento Superior Court Case No. 34-2022-80004031
3. Steven Higashi v. City of Elk Grove Animal Services

Note: Council Member Robles arrived at 5:40 p.m.

The City Council reconvened at 6:02 p.m. with all members present. Mayor Singh- Allen reported by 5 – 0 vote (Ayes: Singh-Allen, Brewer, Robles, Spease, and Suen),

ity Council authorized the City Attorney’s Office to defend the litigation of Steven Higashi v. City of Elk Grove Animal Services , Sacramento Superior Court Case No. 24CV007753.
ADJOURNMENT
With no additional business to conduct, the May 8, 2024 special City Council meeting was adjourned at 6:02 p.m.
