PLANNING COMMISSION APPLICANTS ONLY
Please provide a short (300 words or less) statement discussing your ideas and attitudes about planning in Emeryville. Please consider issues such as traffic, industrial and commercial development density, affordable housing, maintaining community diversity and jobs/housing balance.

I believe planning in Emeryville is to plan an Emeryville where all neighbors have an affordable and safe place to call home. On a public school teacher income, I qualified for the Emeryville's Homebuyer Program and I purchased a Below Market Rate condo in 2014. These kinds of programs are forward thinking and address issues that help workers be residents and/or live close to work. As for safety, I live on 40th and San Pablo and have experienced a number of occasions of nearly being hit by a car, I've seen cars run a red light and witnessed car/ bike crashes. Taking a fair and balanced approach to resolving such issues happens when resources, insights on technical issues and expertise are provided. Lastly, as an Emeryville School Board member I advised our school administrators to meet with City Police and the Golden Gate Community Assoication to help make school drop off and pick up safe for all. The main goal was to maintain traffic and keep children safe. This has been done so in a fair and balanced approach, especially when resolving competing interests among stakeholders. I would like to join the Housing Committee because I can work in a team who is dedicated to advance the quality of life through organizing and policy advocacy.
