fireman Dennis Bluth and I was able to complete the required drawing which is enclosed.
In cooperation with Alameda County fire officials, we are mutually committed to working closely together on every phase of the project. This includes the installation of the painting/mural. At this time, I envision the mural to be installed on the south facing corner of the station house at 63rd and Hollis Streets.
In this critically challenging time, it is more important than ever to value, honor, recognize and support Emeryville's vital front line essential service workers. My proposed painting of an Emeryville firefighter and other service workers seeks to address and to begin to fulfill this need.
Since 1970, I have exhibited my paintings prominently on both the West and East Coasts. A curriculum vitae with my exhibition history is enclosed.
In 1998, I painted one of the largest single artist murals in San Francisco, the Lombardi Sports Building Mural at Polk and Jackson Streets. A photocopy of the 8,000 sq. foot mural is enclosed.
In 1995, I led gifted Oakland Fruitvale area junior high school students in the City of Oakland and neighborhood sponsored Fruitvale Community Cultural heritage murals that celebrated the extensive cultural diversity of the area. The boldly colorful murals revitalized a major intersection of the Fruitvale area. The murals spanned 110 and 75 feet in dimension. A photocopy of the main mural is enclosed.
I have also enclosed photocopies of a selection of paintings that I have created since the early 1970's.

PLEASE NOTE:
The painting/mural as now envisioned
will be installed on the south facing side of
the Hollis Street Fire Station #35 at the
corner of Hollis and 63rd Streets.
The only neighbor of the fire station that the
painting will face is a very large mixed use
building with numerous tenants across the
street on 63rd Street.
A flyer about the painting of the fireman will
be made up and put in all of the doors of
the building.
Mirror safety concerns:
1. In addition to the engineering upgrades described in the Budget I will retain consulting solar engineer Walt Pyle from H-ion Solar, Richmond, CA.
The mirror is locked in place, so reflected light is focused on the top half of the Zymergen building (16' - 28') and never reflects on motorists or pedestrians and adjacent buildings. In addition, there are no windows on the Zymergen building.
The sun's mirror side is convex without a focal point for the sun to collect. The mirror has a consistent thickness of 1/8" thick without a thicker area to focus sunlight..
When the mirror is installed and uninstalled, its reflective surface will be covered entirely.
