Designation Of Voting Delegate And Alternate(s) To The League Of California Cities Annual Conference Recommendation
Staff recommends the City Council authorize a Council Member as the Designated Voting Delegate to attend the 2022 California Cities Annual Conference on behalf of the City, and up to two alternate voting delegates.
DISCUSSION
The League of California Cities Annual Conference is scheduled for September 7-9, 2022, in person in Long Beach, California. An important part of the annual conference is the annual business meeting on September 9th during General Assembly, where the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. Once the Annual Resolutions Packet is received, an item will be placed on Council’s agenda for its consideration.
In order for the City of Emeryville to have a vote at the annual business meeting, the City Council must designate a voting delegate and may also designate up to two alternate voting delegates, one of whom may vote if the designated voting delegate is unable to do so. The Annual Conference Voting Procedures and the 2022 Voting Delegate / Alternate Form are attached to this report. A formal City Council resolution is not required for the City Council to make a designation(s).
Fiscal Impact
Funds to attend the annual League of California Cities annual conference are included in the City’s operating budget.
