Please provide a short (300 words or less) statement discussing your education, experience, qualifications and preparation for serving on the Emeryville City Council.* On the City Council, I would be an advocate for Emeryville';s General Plan, the document that encapsulates the desires of the people of Emeryville. This includes building 49 acres of park and open space by the sunset of the Plan in 2029 as well as increasing the ratio of homeowners over renters. I would seek to make new residential development comply with the General Plan';s provisions of three acres of park per 1000 new residents. I would increase the park fee on developers. I would use the scientific method to achieve a jobs/housing balance. After we have achieved our RHNA market rate housing goals for each implementation period, I would leverage Emeryville';s marketable assets as seen by developers, to extract more acreage of parks (because they, by adding more residents, are driving the need to increase park acreage). I would build a public library. I would leverage our partnership position with the Emery School District to force positive change at that dysfunctional * indicates required fields.
