Resolution Of The City Council Of The City Of Emeryville Adopting The Community Grant Sub Committee Recommendations To Select Big Daddy’s Community Garden, Friends Of The Golden Gate Library, Head Over Heels Athletic Arts, Kala Art Institute, New Arts Foundation, Scientific Adventures For Girls, Stagebridge, The Compound Gallery LLC, The Emeryville Historical Society, And WePerform As The Recipients For The Emeryville Community Grant Program WHEREAS, the Community Grant Program (CGP) was established more than twenty years ago as a means of “promoting the cultural and artistic aspects of the community and to provide for a high-quality living and working environment in the City of Emeryville”; and
WHEREAS, the Program was discontinued in 2015, until an application process and guidelines could be developed; and
WHEREAS, staff developed an application process and presented it to the City Council on December 20, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the City Council supported the goal of the Community Grants Program which funds eligible arts and culture organizations and individuals to provide diverse programs and activities that benefits the greater Emeryville community; and WHEREAS, the City released a call for applicants with a February 28, 2023 deadline and received 13 qualified applications; and
WHEREAS, a Community Grants Sub Committee of one Public Art Committee member and two Parks and Recreation Committee members were designated to review the applications; and
WHEREAS, the Selection Committee met on April 26, 2023 and reviewed the applications and recommends the City Council approve the committee’s recommendation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Emeryville hereby approves the selection of Big Daddy’s Community Garden, Friends of the Golden Gate Library, Head Over Heels Athletic Arts, Kala Art Institute, New Arts Foundation, Scientific Adventures for Girls, Stagebridge, The Compound Gallery LLC, The Emeryville Historical Society, and WePerform As The Recipients For The Emeryville Community Grant Program in the following amounts:
Big Daddy’s Community Garden $4,000
Friends of Golden Gate Library $3,000
Head Over Heels Athletic Arts $4,500
Kala ART Institute: Emeryville Create with Nature $4,500 Kala ART Institute: Kala Youth Art Programs $10,000
New Arts Foundation $10,000
