priority. Emeryville’s bike path infrastructure has a
good start but I would like to see more emphasis
on safe and efficient bike access routes. For
example, the new pedestrian/bike bridge over the
railway is fantastic. But then it’s a complicated
maze to get to the pier. And specifically it is
dangerous to bike east on the bike path next to
Powell from I‐80. The pedestrian signal at
Shellmound puts pedestrians and bicyclists at risk
to vehicles making a right hand turn. I have been
nearly hit so many times that now I bike thru the
parking area and connect to Shellmound further
south to avoid getting smashed by a car.

the Powell Street Bridge was previously proposed
but I haven’t seen any progress on this in a while,
please make sure it’s not abandoned. A pedestrian
connection on the north side of 40th to
Halleck/Beach was also proposed but without any
movement recently. Also the connection from the
Christie Ave cycletrack to Powell Street Plaza isreally difficult for bikes due to the missing crosswalk leg & curb ramp, please prioritize an
upgrade here. I don’t know how this could maybe
be influenced by the CIP but bike/walk access to
and through both the Powell Street Plaza area and
the East Bay Bridge Center south of 40th Street
remains incredibly bad. Anything that can be doneto influence those property owners to update their site significantly would be massively appreciated,
because as‐is these areas detract a lot from all the
good work the city is doing elsewhere.

an aging and disabled community, by and large,
but we don't even have an accessible gym or
walkways. I live at 1 Captain, and I have to use
my wheelchair in the street to get to the Clipper
Club because there are no curb cuts. The doors
are too heavy and a resident fell trying to open
one, and they have done nothing but give us a
hard time about it. It's time for the city to get
involved and make the HOA responsive to the
ADA and the needs of the disability community

many times as a bicyclist due to the traffic lights
on Powell St. and Shellmound, particularly,
heading east from the Trader Joe's Corner to the
Four Points Hotel corner. The problem is that
when a pedestrian or bicyclist gets the walk/ride
light, the drivers still have a green light to turn.
This should absolutely be a red light on right
turns. Drivers are tired and frantic after getting
off the freeway & take no notice of the cyclist
