Resolution Of The City Council Of The City Of Emeryville Appointing City Council Members To City Council Committees For Calendar Year 2024; And Amending The FY2023-24 Local Roster Of Boards, Commissions And Committees Accordingly Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the above-entitled Resolution appointing City Council Members to the City’s various City Council Committees for Calendar Year 2024. Additionally, staff recommend the Council review the current list of Ad Hoc Committees and make determinations regarding their status. The creation and dissolution of Ad Hoc Committees are at the sole discretion of the City Council.
Background
City Council Committees
City Council Committees enable less than a quorum of City Council Members to have more detailed discussions on specific areas of the City’s responsibilities that cannot be accomplished at regular City Council meetings due to time constraints. All Committee meetings are publicly noticed, and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Committee recommendations are forwarded to the full City Council for final consideration and possible action.
Each year, the City Council appoints its members to serve on City Council Committees (“Committees”). Terms for the currently serving Council Members expire on December 31, 2023. The current City Council representatives are as follows:

Ad Hoc Committees are created and dissolved at the discretion of the City Council. The existing Ad Hoc Committees are as follows:
Marketplace Redevelopment Project Negotiating Ad Hoc Committee Created: April 19, 2022
Forming a negotiating team for the Marketplace Redevelopment Project (Parcels A, B and F).

City Council Committees
The current abbreviated roster, including descriptions of the Committees, meeting times and locations, and staff contact information, is attached to this staff report. Appointments made at this time will commence on January 1, 2024, and end on December 31, 2024.
Ad Hoc Committees
Council may discuss whether each of the current Ad Hoc Committees has fulfilled its function, and whether the committee should be dissolved, or membership reassigned by Council action.
