RESOLUTION NO. 24-
Resolution Of The City Council Of The City Of Emeryville Authorizing The City Manager To Purchase One Ford Explorer HEV (Hybrid) Patrol Vehicle From Folsom Lake Ford For A Total Amount Not To Exceed $56,662.79, And Purchase Emergency Patrol Vehicle Equipment from Lehr At An Amount Not To Exceed $21,965.88
WHEREAS, public safety requires that police officers be provided with vehicles that are safe to operate and free of maintenance problems; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department sought a bid from Folsom Lake Ford, the Ford dealer that was awarded the State of California’s Enforcement Vehicle contract, for the purchase of a Ford Explorer Police Interceptor HEV vehicle under State of California Contract # 1- 22-23-14C; and
WHEREAS, this is a non-scheduled replacement of a 2023 patrol vehicle that sustained a total loss as a result of a traffic collision on December 28, 2023; and WHEREAS, in addition to the purchase of the vehicle, there is an additional estimated cost of up to $21,965.88 for the purchase and installation of emergency vehicle equipment for the vehicle; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department obtained bids from Folsom Lake Ford for the purchase of one Ford Explorer Police Interceptor HEV (Hybrid) vehicle for a total amount not to exceed $56,662.79, and from Lehr for the purchase and installation of the emergency vehicle equipment needed for the vehicle for a not to exceed cost of $21,965.88; and WHEREAS, Insurance funds in the amount of $34,559 have been received and the balance needed is available in the City’s Vehicle Replacement Fund (Fund 660) to replace one Police Department patrol vehicle and purchase the emergency vehicle equipment; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the City Manager to purchase one Ford Explorer Police Interceptor HEV (Hybrid) vehicle in an amount not to exceed $56,662.79, and purchase and install emergency vehicle equipment from Lehr in an amount not to exceed $21,965.88 and to appropriate said funds from Fund 660.
