Research Analyst at the Urban Displacement Project (Jan - July 2021) - conducted research on evictions and other forms of housing precarity and involuntary displacement in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Why are you interested in serving on this Board, Commission or Committee? As a recent newcomer who happily discovered Emeryville to be a living example of elusive urbanist ideals, I hope to contribute to the City’s ongoing evolution into a beacon of diversity, sustainability, and livability for our own fellow residents, the rest of the Bay Area, and beyond.
While serving as a member of the Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee over the past year, I learned about the Christie Avenue Housing Redevelopment Project and other exciting housing-related projects, policies and programs that are transforming Emeryville from a former industrial zone into a vibrant residential community. And ever since moving into The Emery when the first building opened to tenants in 2022, I have witnessed first-hand the power of such redevelopment projects to bring people from diverse backgrounds together into a thriving community and make a positive impact on the surrounding neighborhood. By joining the Housing Committee, I would seek to support the City in advancing these and similar projects with the goal of making residence in Emeryville more affordable, accessible, equitable, and enjoyable for residents from all income levels and backgrounds.
