Reason for Request:*
Please explain in detail your request for funding. Why is this project needed? How will funds/project improve the quality of life for Emeryville residents? Dear Emeryville Visual Arts Selection Committee,
I am writing to express my sincere interest in applying for a mural project for Fire Station 34 that celebrates the rich history of firefighting in Emeryville, honors the invaluable contributions of African-Americans to this noble profession across the nation and throughout history.

Having collaborated closely with Chief Randall West, we have developed an image that encapsulates the essence of Emeryville's fire fighting legacy, pays tribute to the recently deceased Eric Mikel from Station 34 and highlights the significant role played by African-Americans in shaping this profession. Together, we aim to create a visually captivating mural that not only beautifies th ommunity but also serves as an educational beacon, enlightening residents and visitors alike about the remarkable history an diversity within the firefighting community.

This mural will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of Emeryville but also serve as a source of pride and inspiration for its residents. By showcasing the courage, dedication, and diversity of firefighters past and present, this artwork will foster a sense of unity and appreciation among individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Moreover, it will provide a meaningful opportunity for reflection and dialogue on the importance of inclusivity and equality in our society.

I firmly believe that public art has the power to transform communities and enrich the lives of those who inhabit them. Through this mural project, l aim to contribute to the cultural fabric of Emeryville and leave a lasting legacy that resonates with generations to come. With your support, l am confident that we can bring this vision to life and create an enduring symbol of unity, resilience, and diversity in our beloved city.

Thank you for considering my proposal. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the artistic heritage of Emeryville and look forward to the possibility of collaborating with you all.

Sincerely,
Rachel Wolfe-Goldsmith
