Resolution Of The City Council Of The City Of Emeryville Adopting The Community Promotion Grant Subcommittee Recommendations To Select Biketopia, Easy Does It Emergency Services, Emeryville Celebration Of The Arts, Emeryville Children And Nature, Fishnets And Films, Friends Of The Golden Gate Library, Head Over Heels Athletic Arts, Kala Art Institute, Nancy Karp & Dancers, Scientific Adventures For Girls, The Compound Gallery LLC, And The Emeryville Historical Society As Recipients For The Emeryville Community Promotions Grant Program WHEREAS, The Community Promotions Grant Program (CGP) was established more than twenty years ago as a means of “promoting the cultural and artistic aspects of the community and to provide for a high-quality living and working environment in the City of Emeryville”; and
WHEREAS, the Program was discontinued in 2015, until an application process and guidelines could be developed; and
WHEREAS, staff developed an application process and presented it to the City Council on December 20, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the City Council supported the goal of the CGP which funds eligible arts and culture organizations and individuals to provide diverse programs and activities that benefits the greater Emeryville community; and
WHEREAS, the City released a call for applicants with February 28, 2024 deadline and received 13 qualified applications; and
WHEREAS, a Community Grants Subcommittee of two Public Art Committee member and two Parks and Recreation Committee members were designated to review the applications; and it is recommended that future Subcommittee be comprised of one member from the Commission On Aging, one from the Economic Development Advisory Committee, one from the Public Art Committee, and one from the Parks and Recreation Committee to ensure more diverse representation; and
WHEREAS, the Selection Committee met on March 11, 2024, and reviewed the applications and recommends the City Council approve the Selection Committee’s recommendations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Emeryville hereby approves the selection of Biketopia, Easy Does It Emergency Services, Emeryville Celebration of the Arts, Emeryville Children and Nature, Fishnets and Films, Friends of the Golden Gate Library, Head Over Heels Athletic Arts, Kala Art Institute, Nancy Karp & Dancers, Scientific Adventures for Girls, The Compound Gallery LLC, and The Emeryville Historical Society as recipients for the Emeryville Community Promotions Grant Program in the following amounts:
