Resolution Of The City Council Of The City Of Emeryville Authorizing The City Manager To Execute A Five-Year Agreement With Axon Enterprises Inc. For The Supply, Training, And Maintenance Of A Body Worn Camera System And Cloud Storage Solution In An Amount Not To Exceed $236,810
WHEREAS, the Emeryville Police Department is seeking to renew the body worn camera (BWC) system and digital media storage platform to continue to have data security, improve officer video capabilities, transparency, and community service; and WHEREAS, the Emeryville Police Department had a contract with Axon Enterprises Inc. (Axon) for the BWC system for the past five years and seeks to renew the contract for continued BWC service; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department staff completed a detailed review of BWC systems available in the market and determined that the Axon BWC system is the only system that meets the needs of the Police Department for both BWC hardware and data storage software; and
WHEREAS, staff used Sourcewell Competitive Purchasing to ensure that the product and system meet the requirements of the Emeryville Municipal Code and Administrative Instruction directive 605 which provide for an exception to typical procurement procedures for piggyback contracts; and
WHEREAS, the annual cost for will be $47,362 and account expenditures will be drawn from the Police Department account 2200-77150 Equipment Operation and Maintenance, annually over the 5-year agreement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Emeryville authorizes the City Manager to execute a five-year agreement with Axon Enterprises Inc. for a body worn camera and digital media storage system in the amount of $236,810.
