Resolution Of The City Council Of The City Of Emeryville Amending Council Policy 003 For Reimbursement For Approved Travel And Other Expenses For City Council Members, Commissioners And Committee Members
WHEREAS, The Council Policy 003 is in alignment with mandated state regulations that the City set forth guidelines for reimbursing City Council Members and Planning Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, This policy outlines procedures for reimbursing Commissioner expenses when authorized by the City Council, as well as reimbursement processes for appointed committee members when their expenses are authorized by the City Council; and WHEREAS, The City Council referred this item to the Budget and Governance Committee.; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has proposed the following amendments, highlighted in the attached policy and summarized below:
1. Added a paragraph under the "Policy" section indicating that each Council Member is authorized up to $2,000 annually (per budget year) per this policy. Any expenses that exceed this amount must receive prior approval from the City Council.
2. Updated the policy to state that the City will cover the cost of one checked bag.
3. Updated the requirement that all out-of-state travel by committee or commission members must be pre-approved by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, The fiscal impact increases the current City budget for Council travel from $8,000 to $10,000 to authorize each individual Council Member to have $2,000 for travel and other expenses, now be it
