BACKGROUND
In 2022, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors directed ACSSA to invest $5 million of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to the local Early Care and Education (ECE) system for existing needs and capacity building. $3.74 million in one-time grants were awarded to 1,247 eligible licensed small and large Family Child Care (FCC) and Center-based programs in Alameda County.
The purpose of this grant is to enhance childcare access, affordability, and stability after the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligibility for the grant is small and large Family Child Care (FCC) and Center-based programs in Alameda County with active, current licenses and operational before June 2021 and licensed with Community Care Licensing.
Discussion
ECDC received an opportunity to apply for the 2024 License Provider Grant to allow for additional funding for childcare access, affordability, and stability of programs. The grant application is due by November 1st with funding to be distributed upon acceptance of the grant application.
