Resolution Of The City Council Of The City Of Emeryville Declaring The Results Of The Emeryville Consolidated General Municipal Election Held On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, As To The Election Of Three Council Members Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the resolution that declares the results of the Consolidated General Municipal Election held on November 5, 2024, as to the election of three Council Members.
Background
The General Election was held on November 5, 2024, and the Alameda County Registrar of Voters (ROV) official canvass of returns was completed on December 5, 2024. There were three City Council Members whose terms were expiring, John Bauters, Sukhdeep Kaur, and Courtney Welch. Incumbents Sukhdeep Kaur and Courtney Welch sought re-election, while John Bauters did not.
Six candidates qualified for the ballot for the three eligible Council Member seats: Mia Esperanza Brown, Calvin Dillahunty, Sam Gould, Sukhdeep Kaur, Matthew Solomon, and Courtney Welch.
Discussion
The Certificate of Election Results and Official Canvass of the ROV’s returns indicate that the newly elected Council Members are Sukhdeep Kaur, Matthew Solomon, and Courtney Welch.
