Access Control
Replacement Project
Emery Unified School District January 2025
Observations
and Challenges
Of Current
Access Control
System
Observations
Wear and Tear
The current access control system,
LenelS2, and the corresponding
hardware was installed in 2016. The
hardware as well as the software is
almost a decade old. We have
observed normal wear and tear of
the our doors and Fob sensors as
well as an increase cost of
maintenance due to the age of the
solution
Section 3
Challenges
Disparate Systems
cause frustration
and inefficiency
LenelS2 controls our electrified doors and
our intercom system. While LenelS2 is used
in larger organizations, the system is not
intuitive with its design and the intercom
system is not full integrated into the
management page requiring certified
personnel to maintain and operate the
system correctly
The complexity and the disparate state of
the system inherently creates frustration
for staff and requires reliance on certified
third party vendors.
The system is locally hosted resulting in
tangible and intangible ongoing costs for
the district.
