Resolution Of The City Council Of The City Of Emeryville Authorizing The City Manager To Enter Into A Construction Contract With SDM Construction In An Amount Of $243,500.00 For Renovation And Replacement Of Old City Hall Exterior Windows, Project No.16650015, And Authorizing The City Manager To Increase The Contract By $25,000.00 For A Total Not To Exceed Contract Amount Of $268,500.00.
CEQA Determination: Exempt Under Section 15061(b)(3)
WHEREAS, the scope of work for this project includes renovation and replacement of all exterior wood windows (except the curved glass windows) at the Old City Hall Building in City of Emeryville including complete replacement of the sash, any operable window mechanism and glass, repairing or replacing damaged frames, sills and jams; and WHEREAS, each window frame and sill are to be primed and made ready for the final painting to be executed under Contract 16650015 Civic Center Exterior Painting Project; and
WHEREAS, the project was formally advertised on December 27, 2024; and WHEREAS, on February 26, 2025, five bids were received for the project with the lowest responsive bid submitted from SDM Construction for $243,500 which was $53,500 above the engineer’s estimate of $190,000; and
WHEREAS, additional contingency work may be required during the course of the project; and
WHEREAS, the Project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under Section 15061(b)(3) of the State CEQA Guidelines; and
WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available in CIP book number FM-04 Project 16650015; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Emeryville that the City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with SDM Construction in an amount of $243,500; and, be it, further
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Emeryville that the City Manager is authorized to increase the contract by $25,000.00 for a total not to exceed amount of $268,500.
