City Council Guide to Disaster Operations
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a study session on the City Council’s role in Disaster Operations.
Background
In 2020, Human Resources developed a comprehensive guidebook and accompanying slideshow titled “City Council Guide to Disaster Operations,” which was presented during a dedicated Study Session held on October 20 of that year. Since none of the current five Council Members were in office at the time, the Police Department has recently updated the guide to ensure Council has access to the most current information and practices regarding disaster response.
Discussion
During the study session the EOC Coordinator will present on the guidebook which includes the following sections:
Introduction to Disaster Operations and the City Council’s Role Overview of Disaster Preparedness
City of Emeryville’s Emergency Management Organization
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Organization
Responding to a Disaster
City Council Preparedness
Fiscal Impact
There is no fiscal impact from this presentation.
