RESOLUTION NO. 25-103
Resolution Of The City Council Of The City Of Emeryville Consenting To The Proposed On-Street Parking Restrictions For Recreational Vehicles, Trucks, And Trailers Near Certain Public City Parks
WHEREAS, City staff received and documented public complaints regarding the parking of oversized vehicles, specifically recreational Vehicles (RVs), trucks, and trailers, on streets near public City parks as indicated in the attached Exhibit A – Map of Proposed Parking Restrictions on Streets Near City Parks (Exhibit A); and WHEREAS, the size of these vehicles in areas intended for high pedestrian activity, particularly those frequented by children and families, presents unique challenges to the City’s public safety and accessibility standards; and
WHEREAS, existing parking regulations have proven insufficient to fully mitigate the increased safety hazards, such as obstructed sightlines and restricted emergency access, and the loss of critical parking turnover required for park visitors; and WHEREAS, on September 9, 2025, the Transportation and Sustainability Committee (TSC) unanimously passed a motion approving the proposed on-street parking restrictions for recreational vehicles (RVs), trucks, and trailers on streets near certain City parks; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is now asked to consent to these parking restrictions pursuant to Emeryville Municipal Code Section 4-9.32, which authorizes the TSC to approve such parking restrictions subject to consent by the City Council; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Emeryville that the City Council consents to the designation of on-street parking restrictions for recreational vehicles (RVs), trucks, and trailers near certain City parks, as indicated in the attached in Exhibit A, approved by the Transportation Committee on September 9, 2025.
