Employment Agreement between the City of Exeter and Chief of Police John Hall to extend the term of the agreement through May 27, 2025.
Summary/Background:
On February 14, 2023, the City Council approved and authorized the Mayor and City Administrator to execute an Employment Agreement with the Chief of Police for a term of 2 years with the following notable terms:
• Salary increase of 3% to be $11,526.00 per month as reflected in the salary schedule adopted on February 14, 2023.
• Receive all future increases in salary that are also paid to and received by the EPOA members during his contract period, which included a scheduled 2% increase effective the first full pay period of July 2023.
• Salary increase of 3% effective the first full pay period of January 2024. • Once each calendar year if Hall reached their maximum accrual of 360 hours of vacation leave in pay he may redeem up to eighty (80) hours of vacation in pay (at his current rate of pay) in that pay period so long as he has taken at least a forty (40) hour vacation leave during the previous eight (8) months.
The current agreement term ends February 27, 2025. City Staff is recommending that the City Council consider approval and authorize the Mayor and City Administrator to execute Addendum No. 1 to the Employment Agreement between the City of Exeter and Chief of Police John Hall to extend the term of the agreement through May 27, 2025. The following highlights the major changes within the addendum:
• Extend the term of the agreement through May 27, 2025.
All other provisions of the agreement remain the same.
Fiscal Impact:
There is no additional cost for extending the contract term. There is no increase in pay.
