SUBJECT: Administer the Oath of Office to Newly Elected Public Officers __________________________________________________________________________________
RECOMMENDATION
That the Oath of Office be administered to the newly elected public officers.
DISCUSSION
The Constitution of the State of California requires that public officers be sworn in prior to beginning their term of office. At the November 8, 2022 General Municipal Election, four officers were elected by the residents of Fairfax:
Two Town Councilmembers
Town Treasurer
Town Clerk
Each officer will begin a 4-year term of office tonight after taking the Oath of Office. Their terms will expire upon certification of the November 2026 election.
