To:Fairfax Town Council <[email protected]> Dear Mayor and Council Members,
We have heard that there is a suggestion that the Town provide space for a homeless encampment at Doc Edgar Park. While we understand the need to find a space where our homeless can safely stay, this small park is an inappropriate and problematic location. It is embedded in a residential neighborhood, not close to Town services, facilities, resources and public transportation. Bolinas Road and Cascade Drive are heavily traveled vehicle routes with many speeding cars, and with only one narrow sidewalk on one side of the street for the last quarter mile to the site. The establishment of an encampment on this site would be a logistical hardship for homeless, and it would mean the loss of neighborhood use of this valued local park. We strongly urge you to find a more appropriate site.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
