Discuss and Consider Town Council Board and Committee Assignments for 2024.
RECOMMENDATION
Review Council Board & Committee assignments and make changes as appropriate.
DISCUSSION
Each year the Council reviews their assignments to represent the Town on numerous boards, committees, and joint powers authorities. The Council typically discusses the current assignments and possible changes to or elimination of assignments.
There are no adopted policies on the process of assigning Councilmembers to committees. In the past, the Council has balanced the needs of the committees with the experience and/or interest of individual Councilmembers. While Councilmembers are not required to give up or rotate assignments, they usually try to ensure that newer Councilmembers have opportunities to be the primary or alternate representative to outside agencies (e.g., Ross Valley Fire Department Board, Transportation Authority of Marin).
Staff has prepared a draft list of assignments for 2024 based on the most recent 2023 list, adjusted to reflect Mayor Coler and Vice Mayor Blash for those assignments particular to the offices of Mayor and Vice Mayor. There are no open assignments to be filled at this time.
